An open Hager consumer unit fitted by Solas, with neatly dressed cables, a row of RCBOs, a surge protection device and a red main switch

Neat where it counts

Most people never look inside their consumer unit. Here's what you'd find in one of ours.

  1. An RCBO on every circuitA fault trips only the circuit it's on, so the rest of the house stays on.
  2. Surge protectionGuards the wiring and whatever's plugged in against voltage spikes.
  3. Main switchTurns off the power to every circuit at once.
  4. Tidy cable runsNeat, straight wiring is easier to test, fault-find and add to later.
